Coito programado: método para quedar embarazada sencillo y muy utilizado El coito programado, utilizado de manera correcta y en los pacientes indicados, puede llegar a solucionar muchos casos de infertilidad. Este método de baja complejidad constituye el primer peldaño en la escalera de técnicas de reproducción asistida. Es el tratamiento más sencillo y económico. Indicaciones para el coito programado Parejas jóvenes con menos de 2 años de infertilidad que tienen esterilidad por causa desconocida Por lo menos una trompa de Falopio permeable (destapada) Conteo de espermatozoides normal Esta técnica consiste básicamente en tener relaciones sexuales durante los días fértiles para quedar embarazada. Se puede realizar como ciclo natural, sin necesidad de utilizar medicamentos y acudiendo al médico, quien ayudará a calcular los días fértiles o, con ayuda de estimulación ovárica, técnica que tiene mejores resultados. Estimulación Ovárica y Coito Programado Consiste en estimular los ovarios por medio de medicamentos orales o inyectados, de manera que se produzcan un número suficiente de óvulos. Esta estimulación dura entre 8 y 14 días, siendo muy importante realizar ultrasonidos cada 5 ó 6 días para controlar, ajustando la dosis, el crecimiento y el número de óvulos que se van desarrollando. Cuando se observa por ultrasonido que los folículos alcanzan el tamaño adecuado, es el momento en el que están listos para hacerlos ovular por medio de una inyección. El especialista indicará la hora exacta en que se debe aplicar el medicamento para ovular y se pide a la pareja tener relaciones sexuales 36 horas después, justo el momento en que estará produciéndose la ovulación. De esta manera, se ayuda a los ovarios a producir óvulos maduros y a desencadenar la ovulación. Es un método muy efectivo, sobre todo las parejas cuyo único problema es que la mujer no ovula. Cabe mencionar que, aunque es una técnica sencilla, al estimular al ovario para producir óvulos, es necesario llevar un buen control. Este control debe ser realizado por expertos especialistas, por medio de ultrasonido vaginal, para evitar así complicaciones como un embarazo múltiple. “Se recomienda realizar 5 ó 6 intentos únicamente” El porcentaje de éxito con esta técnica es entre el 15 y 20% por intento. Se recomienda realizar 5 ó 6 intentos únicamente, si no se logra el embarazo, entonces se debe recurrir a la siguiente técnica de reproducción asistida. El pasar a otro tratamiento es muy importante ya que, si no se logra el embarazo en los primeros 6 ciclos y se sigue intentando, las probabilidades son nulas, haciendo que la pareja pierda su tiempo y su reserva de óvulos. Aproximadamente el 40% de las parejas candidatas a coitos programados, logran el embarazo después de someterse a 4 ciclos. Algunas lo logran en el primer intento y otras en los intentos posteriores.
