As we know, when we are on vacations we feel free to consume foods that can be more elaborated, foods that are not the best option for our diet. The portions will be greater and the calories ingestion will be higher.
We eat out most of the time, in restaurants, making it difficult to control our diet. Restaurant menus are normally high in calories, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium, being at the same time low in fiber.
Nevertheless, it is possible to enjoy our vacations and food not being affraid of the extra pounds. The secret is to choose carefully, be moderate and try to be active during the day.
Here you can find some advises that can help you decide and will take care of your weight during vacations:
1. Try to avoid fast food restaurants. Vacations are always a good opportunity to experiment new flavors and enjoy local cuisine. Besides, we will also support the local economy.
2. Be careful with the high calories drinks. The best option is always to drink water, but if you wish to have some flavor you can ask for a lemonade, orange juice, avoiding sodas always. If you really crave a soda, it should better be light. The alcohol consumption can also increase during vacations, keep in mind that they contain lots of sugar so you should moderate.
3. You don’t need to stop having what you like, but try to control the portions. You have the option of sharing with family and friends and you will also then have more options.
4. Try to choose salads and vegetables for sides, they will always be a good option to control your hunger. Avoid bread in the table, it can be so tempting!!
5. Try to eat a fruit of nuts between meals, beside keeping your metabolism active, they will help you to control hunger. .
6. Seafood is a good option. Fish bring us a good quantity of Omega fatty acids that are very good for our hearts.
7. Choos only what you are really craving (only one), your will avoid consuming other stuff that are no good for you. Try to control the impulses.
8. If you crave a dessert, try to eat fruit, if this is not what you want then try to avoid any fried stuff or high sugar foods. A water lollypop or any water ice cream or jelly can be a good option.
9. Try to walk a lot, during vacations we are normally more active, enjoy it and you will notice that even though you maybe eating more, you will not gain extra weight.
Small changes in your food habits will reflect in several health benefits. Enjoy your vacations and take care of yourself.
