The starting day of the menstrual cycle corresponds to the first day of menstrual bleeding, meaning, the first day of any quantity of blood. The duration of the menstrual period varies in each woman, being the most common between 28 to 30 days.
The most fertile days are in the middle of this cycle, when the ovulation happens and the body is getting prepared to receive the embryo if the egg is fertilized.
Therefore, if you are trying to get pregnant, it is really important to know exactly when you are ovulating. You should have clear information of the duration of your cycle, for example, if it lasts between 28 to 30 days, you can count 14 days after your first bleeding, we assume that you must be ovulating that exact day so, you should have sexual intercourse 2 to 3 days previous and 2 to 3 days after the calculated date.
Example: menstruation on june 10th: 10 + 14 = june 24th is the probable day of ovulation. You should have sexual intercourse from june 21st until june 27th, on a daily basis or at least every 3rd day. You should consider that, the more you try, the more possibilities of getting pregnant.
All this information is just an orientation. Any anomaly should be checked with your fertility specialist.
